Adrianna 'Amber' Corsack - Electrokinesis

Description

A perky, hyper, happy and bubbly person, Adrianna swiftly became best friends with Norika while the two were in school together, and these factors also meant she was the "second in command" of the group. However she was always in Norika's shadow, Adrianna gained an inferiority complex, a tendency to doubt herself and a slightly possessive traits, even after Norika leaves due to the events in her home life. Some time later, Adrianna's boyfriend Raiden gives her a gem he found but the two were unaware of it being a "Demon Gem". Because they both came into contact with the gem, both got possessed by the demon but it's will was stretched across the two of them. Due to her doubt and inferiority, Adrianna lacked the will to overcome the demon, especially after Raiden managed to and she was left with the full blunt of it's influence, and ultimately gave in. She emerged as the "Thunder Savant" and now with her new found powers and the demon constantly whispering in the back of her mind, warping it, Adrianna now believes she has the power to "right" the "wrongs" she once faced and believes killing her old friend is the first thing to do. Additionally her possessive tendencies, which used to be quite minor in the old days have also been escalated, giving them a bit of a creepy, intensive vibe.

And with that, April's piece is done.

I'll admit, my thoughts on this are mixed. While I do like the pose - a combination of references drawn by Cytoscourge (click here) and toonartist (click here) - I do feel the piece may have worked better if I stuck with just one. I do also feel the hips seem a touch too wide, especially considering as how I envision her as slender and petite. It also makes the skirt seem a lot wider than it would be, not helped by the stance she's in. The torso may also be a touch too long, the stage right leg and foot misshapen and I'll admit I cut corners with the stage right hand. And finally, I'm also sure the shading could be better. Then again, "Done is better than perfect". As someone who's been known to be "paralysed" and unable to draw out of fear of the piece not turning out right, I'd rather draw something to the best of my ability and maybe compromise on the overall quality slightly if it meant the piece would get finished. I can always try again another day.

This was also my first digital picture after I learned of gesture drawing, so I'm curious to know how I got on. Unlike with my traditional pieces, my digital ones are drawn "separately", usually by tracing over the traditional one and making fixes on them. Part of me is wondering if this means the piece would lose the gesture I've been fighting so hard to put into my pieces over the past month.

Design wise, I've also made a few tweaks to toonartist's approach. For starters I revived the shades of navy and brown from the Amber piece I drew back on my old account (link below) mostly as I love paying homages to my old ideas. I also changed the design of the skirt a little as, while I liked the three layered approach he did, I found it hard to draw and made an already too-tight skirt seem even more restricting. I am hoping to revive that element of her design when I get better at drawing. I also borrowed the shades of mint green and grey toonartist used in his original piece (thank you colour picker tool) but I did come close to changing the mint green and white dress to a sea green/grey combo. Perhaps a "play 2" design for the future?

I did hope to add in some electrical elements to have her show case her powers, but as I ran out of time (I lost some due to technical issues with my computer) and none of the other pieces having them, I left it off for now.

I am one day likely to come back to this piece and re-draw it, probably at the end of my project, to see how I've grown. Any feedback you can give is appreciated and will go towards that final version.

Adrianna "Amber" Corsack is an amalgamation of two OCs - my old character Amber Blake and a one off character T. Baldwin made named "Adrianna Corsack", a character I adopted from him. Credit to him for creating the Adrianna half of this original character concept.

Another interesting gal with great lore. :) (Smile)
The pose is really neat, even though it could use some work. ;) (Wink)
I'm interested to see what Norika will look like. :D (Big Grin)
