Small Update

Hey everyone. Nothing too major, but I wanted to wish everyone who reads this a Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday (if you don't celebrate Christmas). I hope you have a wonderful time, whatever it is you do and I look forward to speaking with you all next year .

Life Update

Following on from my last journal, I am pleased to say that, to be honest, most of what I covered in the first part didn't prove to be as dire as I initially though, and I apologise if it came across as such. Truth be told I initially wrote the journal on the Tuesday, mostly to cover what was hot in my mind at that moment. However I sat it on for a few days and when I ended up publishing it at the weekend, my opinions on the matter changed but I didn't revise the copy to reflect this or anything.

The only lingering issue - my car - thankfully was sorted, bar a few minor kerfuffles. Sadly the warning light was genuine as a part was starting to wear down, though I believe I caught the issue early enough for it to not be a problem which is always a good thing. It did end up costing more than I had hoped (though not as expensive as other fixes), meaning I'm sadly not planning on making any new commissions before the new year - the only slight exception being my commission with PactMaker, and that's more due to him wanting the payment after showing me the preview - but I do hope to commission people like again kagato007 and kaeveris soon. Here's hoping to eighteen more months before the next problem, rather than the six to twelve month frequency I had with my last one!

Monthly OC Challenge

The fourth version of "Stairwell Battle" was submitted over the weekend and I'll be the first to admit it didn't quite come out as well as I had hoped.



However I did manage to storm forward with the digitial version, combing the best elements from that piece with the two previous ones.

My hope is to have it done by the end of the weekend, especially as it is looking to be quite quiet so far. I do have a second picture in the works, a beach one based on a picture I've seen floating on the internet for a while - 40.media.tumblr.com/de818ebb20… (NSFW) - but whether I finish it depends on when I get the digital/final version of Stairwell Battle done.

Following on from my last journal, here are a few trivial points about the Snow, slightly revised from last time as well as a few new entries.

• Snow is one of the first examples of a character I adopted, but i never planned to revive her. My interest in the character was sparked when I randomly decided to combine her with a minor character from my old "FF Fan Fic days" and found the result created a variety of new, interesting possibilites.
• Snow's backstory is heavily focused around an Ice Demon due to her being one under the pen of her original creator. It also laid the groundwork for the Daemon/Savant aspect in my work that lead to a plethora of "secondary elements".
• From Theora, Snow primarily got the thief based backstory and a preference for the axe being her weapon of choice. As per a suggestion CMBaggs once made, I do also plan for her to use hammers and maces. All of her weapons are to be made out of ice but tend to shatter quickly.
  
• The constant re-naming was due to me wanting to make the Theora side more prevalent, especially as it's one of the first ones I created. However everyone, myself included, is so used to calling her Snow I don't think it would have the desired impact.
  
• I never planned for Snow to be bisexual. While it did evolve from her friendship with Janine Odonic I wasn't initially planning to make them lovers. However the idea did naturally flow from there.
• Her favourite colour is purple. This steamed from a scrapped collab project with another artist who suggested Snow's wardrobe should be revised to be less black.
  
• Snow's design has been heavily influenced by others, namely toonartist, PactMaker, CMBaggs and my good friend Thompson. The fact her current design is a hybrid of their ideas is one of the things I love most about working with and interacting with other artists; I love seeing aspects from their points of view and their ideas, then bringing them together to see what I can make from all of it.
• The blue nipples was a joke idea I came up with many moons ago but in turn has quickly become one of my favourite aspects of her. This has also branched to her lips being blue, both being signs of her "Daemon Mutation".

ART FOR OTHERS

Over the next couple of months I hope to draw some OCs for some of the other artists on this site. Now these won't be as high of a priority as some of the other art I am working on an due to my "month of Oc" idea, but I'm sure I'll work something out. As someone who loves other people's OCs, I am keen to draw these characters and dip my toes in other people's ideas. Currently I have in mind:
