I was discussing recently with CMBaggs how my artistic muse seems to be all over the place at the moment. It seems like almost every other day I come up with a new idea for a piece, inspired by perhaps a song I hear or a picture I see online (usually on tumblr). However I find almost as soon as I start to get an idea down on paper my muse then gets distracted by something shiny and looses interest in what I was working on in favour of something new. As a result I find I have about four concepts I'm working on, none of which I feel are in a position for me to show anyone yet, let alone getting to a point where I can actually finish it, which is something I've not done in about a year. And then to cap it all off, while chatting to Galvathom earlier I got even more ideas in my head as well as the possibility of taking a "break" from my current focuses and starting some sort of new project although I have absolutely no idea what it would be. It doesn't help that the heatwave from a few weeks back have hit again, making sleep almost as difficult as last time and in turn leaving me drained :faint:.

As I said, it's frustrating as the four pictures I am working on - a new action pose of Snow to replace "Chriokinesis"; a picture of Mewrah "Embracing the Wind", a concept I had floating in my mind in a while as part of my "Season Series"; a new version of "Morning Snow" with her walking around while stretching and yawning and a new version of "Noir in Summer" for my aforementioned "Season series" that may also incorporate a touch of nudity - as well as the long overdue "Gen 7 Mewrah" picture/design, which will be combining elements from the designs Koimii, PactMaker and toonartist have done are all pictures I want to check off my list but as I said almost as soon as one idea starts to hit paper I get distracted and start chasing another.

However on a more positive note, as some people may recall, I admitted to some people a few months back I've been relying on Flash's option to fix lines a little too much over the years. On the last couple of pictures I've been working on, namely "Embracing the Wind", I've been making a conscious effort to avoid the tool where possible. Granted there have been times when the frustration of trying to stitch the lines together or getting the shape I want just overpowers my will to stop using the tool but I would say there's been a good 80 - 90% drop in the amount of times I do use it, so I'm making good progress. I also find with more and more of the concepts, I try to get as much as I done on paper first. Granted it is more the shape and position of the body and there are situations where the digital lines completely re-work the direction I was intended to take, but I do find myself wanting to draw more on paper. I've even found drawing on paper is actually easier in places; the amount of times when a head has come out the way I wanted when I draw it on paper, be it on the first attempt or at least when I go over the lines greatly out numbers the times it's happened when I'm drawing it digitally. Perhaps it's the program I am using causing the issues; some people did suggest some alternatives a few months back which I have admittedly yet to look into but I am hoping this will drive me to get more ideas down onto paper first.

It's not always about finishing pieces, getting the regular practice in can be just as important.

Heck, I have sketchbooks loaded with started and half finished drawings! If we ever meet IRL I'll have to show you.
